A 14-year-old boy has died under suspicious circumstances in the Nuriya police area, prompting an investigation and the arrest of his father, police said.
Police said they received a complaint on the night of January 2 that a child was being assaulted at a house in Nuriyawatta, Section 02. Officers who rushed to the scene found the boy lying near the house and rushed him to the Nuriya Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical officers.
The victim was a 14-year-old resident of Nuriyawatta, Section 02.
As the death was deemed suspicious, the body has been placed at the Avissawella Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police have arrested the boy’s father on suspicion in connection with the death.
