The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today (12 Jan), red alerts have been issued to 09 districts and amber alerts have been issued to 05 districts.
Warning that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
