A 26-year-old Swedish national has died after falling from a hotel building in the Negombo area, Police said.
According to Police, the woman had been temporarily staying in Room on the ninth floor of a hotel in Negombo when the incident occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigations have revealed that the woman was married and that her husband is a businessman. At the time of the incident, her husband had reportedly travelled to the Kurunegala area on business.
Police said initial information suggests that the woman had been engaged in a phone conversation for nearly an hour prior to the fall. A mobile phone believed to belong to the deceased has been taken into Police custody for further investigations.
The Negombo Inquirer into Sudden Deaths visited the scene and conducted a preliminary inspection. On his instructions, the body has been placed at the Negombo Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Police said the body had sustained severe injuries, and further investigations are being carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. (Newswire)
