Veteran Sri Lankan journalist and defence analyst Iqbal Athas passed away early this morning. He was 81.
Family sources said the funeral will be held this afternoon at the Grand Mosque cemetery in Dehiwala. His remains will lie at No. 11 C/1, Siriwardena Road, Hill Street, Dehiwala, from 9.00 a.m.
Iqbal Athas was internationally recognised for his authoritative reporting on defence and security matters, with a journalism career spanning several decades.
