
The Gampaha High Court today postponed the verdict in the murder case of the late MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala, who was killed in Nittambuwa during the unrest on May 9, 2022.
A total of 41 accused remained before the court in the case, which was heard by a Trial-at-Bar this morning.
It is reported that the Gampaha High Court has postponed the verdict until 11 February 2026.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Polonnaruwa District MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala was murdered during the Sri Lanka unrest in May 2022.
Following the unrest that broke out across Sri Lanka after SLPP loyalists attacked anti-government protesters near the Temple Trees and the Galle Face Green in Colombo, MP Athukorala was allegedly assaulted and murdered in Nittambuwa while on his way to Polonnaruwa.
