The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) announced that 2,447 cans of substandard canned fish seized during a raid were destroyed today (16 Jan) under court supervision at the premises of the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court.
According to the CAA, the substandard canned fish were seized during a special raid carried out in the Kosgama area in December 2025.
The case related to the seized items was taken up before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court today, where the businessman involved pleaded guilty.
The Court imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.00 and ordered the destruction of the seized stock. (Newswire)
