The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has outlined the key security features of the Rs. 2,000 commemorative currency note issued to mark its 75th anniversary.

According to the Central Bank, the note includes multiple advanced security features to help the public easily verify its authenticity. When held up to the light, the Lion with Sword watermark and the complete see-through image can be clearly seen, along with micro text embedded in the design.

When the note is tilted, the colour-changing security thread shifts from blue to green and displays the Colombo Lighthouse Clock Tower and the “2000” denomination. Raised printing on the denomination value and the Bank’s title can be felt by touch, along with six tactile bars designed to assist the visually impaired.

Under ultraviolet light, fluorescent dual colours appear in the anniversary theme and skyline on the front, while the denomination also becomes visible, allowing the note to be machine-readable.

The Central Bank has urged the public to use these features to identify genuine notes and avoid counterfeit currency. (Newswire)
