The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has introduced a new digital fuel card system for all government vehicles, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability in fuel distribution, the Ministry of Digital Economy said.

Under the new system, a special digital fuel card will be issued for state-owned vehicles, allowing fuel to be obtained from any fuel station across the country.

The initiative seeks to minimise fuel wastage, fraud, and irregularities, while reducing delays caused by existing documentation processes, the ministry said in a statement. The system will also enable accurate monitoring and reporting of fuel usage by government institutions, the statement added.

The CPC said the digitalisation of fuel distribution is expected to improve the management of state resources, reduce fuel losses, and contribute to strengthening the national economy. (Newswire)
