‘Kush’ drugs worth Rs. 10 million seized at BIA

A Sri Lankan air passenger carrying a stock of ‘Kush’ drugs worth Rs. 10 million has been arrested at the Katunayake Airport.

The arrest was made early today (20 Jan) by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau while the suspect was attempting to take the drug stock out of the airport.

Police stated that the suspect is a businessman residing in Maradana, Colombo, who operates a food distribution business.

It is reported that he had purchased the stock of ‘Kush’ drugs from Malaysia, travelled to Singapore, and then arrived at Katunayake Airport at 12.45 am today.

The drugs, weighing 1.24 kilos, had been concealed in three packages inside the hand luggage he carried.

The suspect and the seized drug stock are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (20). (Newswire)
