Air quality slightly unhealthy across many areas today

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) says Sri Lanka’s air quality reached a slightly unhealthy level in most of the cities in the last 24 hours. 

According to the NBRO, air quality has reached a moderate level in Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Embilipitiya, Trincomalee, Mullaitivu, Batticaloa, Kalutara and Hambantota. 

It is forecasted that the air quality level will be between 56 and 120 during the next 24 hours.

The NBRO states this indicates a moderate level in most of the cities, while a slightly unhealthy level in Kandy, Kegalle, Galle, Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and Monaragala. 

The maximum air quality level will be from 8.00 am – 9.00 am and 4.00 pm – 5.00 pm. 

The public is advised to wear face masks whenever possible and to seek immediate medical advice if sensitive individuals experience breathing difficulties. (Newswire)
