A suspect was arrested with over 3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (“Ice”) worth more than Rs. 30 million during a Police Special Task Force (STF) operation in the Bambalapitiya Police Division.
The suspect, identified as a close associate of underworld figures Welioya Priyantha and SF Jagath—both believed to be overseas—was apprehended at a temporary roadblock on Ridgeway Place while riding a motorcycle. STF officers seized 3 kg and 16 g of the narcotic, along with a mobile phone and two electronic weighing scales, following a subsequent search at a residence in Wellawatte.
The suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation. (NewsWire)
