Pakistan has deferred a decision on whether to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with a final call expected either on Friday or early next week, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said.

Speaking to reporters, Naqvi said the decision would be taken after consultations with the government, as political and diplomatic considerations continue to influence Pakistan’s stance on the tournament.

Pakistan’s participation has been under scrutiny following Bangladesh’s withdrawal from the tournament and broader tensions surrounding the event’s hosting arrangements. Naqvi said the PCB was reviewing all options before making a final determination.

Despite the uncertainty, Pakistan has already announced the squad for the tournament, with its scheduled matches set to be played in Sri Lanka under existing arrangements.
