
The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs plans to introduce several new laws and amend existing ones this year.
Cabinet approval has been granted for a proposal by the Minister to move forward with these legislative changes.
Key measures include:
Introducing a new law against cybercrimes targeting children.
Enacting a new Children’s Rights Act in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Replacing the 2005 Domestic Violence Act (No. 34) with a new law.
Drafting new legislation for foster parent care.
Amending the Children and Young Persons Ordinance (No. 48 of 1939).
Amending the Adoption of Children Ordinance (No. 24 of 1941).
