A small passenger aircraft operated by state-owned airline Satena crashed in a remote area of Norte de Santander province in northeastern Colombia on Wednesday, killing all 15 people aboard. The plane, a Beechcraft 1900 turboprop, was flying from Cúcuta toward Ocaña when it lost contact with air traffic control shortly after takeoff.

Among those killed were two crew members and 13 passengers, including Diógenes Quintero, a congressman representing the Catatumbo region, and Carlos Salcedo, a candidate for Congress.

Colombia’s Transportation Ministry confirmed there were no survivors, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

President Gustavo Petro and other officials expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families of the victims as the nation mourns the tragedy. (NewsWire)
