Sip to Fit hydration app launched to support athlete performance

The “Sip to Fit” mobile application, a new hydration and nutrition tracking tool for athletes, was launchedat the Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The app allows users to estimate the amount of water and sodium lost through sweat during training sessions, helping athletes better manage hydration and recovery. It can also be used to monitor and improve nutrition planning for sports performance.

The application was developed by Dr. Hashan Amaratunga, Acting Consultant Nutritionist at the Medical Research Institute.

The launch event was held under the patronage of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage, with weightlifting athlete Harshana Gunathilaka and officials from sports institutions also in attendance.

Addressing the event, Minister Gamage said modern athletes competing at the international level are being developed through science and technology, and Sri Lankan athletes must also adopt technological innovations to remain competitive. He added that the Sip to Fit app would contribute to integrating technology into local sports development. (Newswire)
