Beijing Capital Airlines marked a significant milestone today in strengthening air connectivity between China

and Sri Lanka with the inauguration of its direct flight service from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Colombo. The inaugural flight was welcomed in Colombo with an official ceremony at BIA, attended by key representatives from the aviation, tourism, and diplomatic sectors.

The newly launched service will operate two weekly flights, providing enhanced and convenient access between the Chinese capital and Sri Lanka. This direct connection is expected to play a vital role in supporting tourism growth, facilitating business travel, and deepening connections between the two countries.

China continues to be one of Sri Lanka’s important tourism source markets, and the introduction of direct flights by Beijing Capital Airlines comes at a timely moment as Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues its recovery and expansion.

The commencement of Beijing Capital Airlines’ operations to Colombo also adds further depth to Sri Lanka’s international aviation landscape, offering travellers greater choice and improved connectivity. The service is expected to stimulate inbound tourism from China while also providing Sri Lankan travellers seamless access to Beijing and onward connections. (Newswire)
