Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has been summoned to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on February 3, Ada Derana reported.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been instructed to appear before the FCID at 9.30 a.m. to provide a statement.
She had earlier been requested to appear before the FCID on January 27. However, through her lawyer, she informed the police that she was unable to attend on that date and requested a two-week extension.
Police sources said that no medical report was submitted in support of the request. As a result, she has again been instructed to appear before the FCID on February 3.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has also been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the same day.
He had previously been asked to appear before the CID but had requested an alternative date, citing that he was not in the country at the time. The latest summons has been issued accordingly. (Newswire)
