A Thai national has been arrested along with a local suspect in connection with the possession of 3 kilograms and 18 grams of heroin, police said.
According to police, the arrests were carried out on Tuesday night (03) by officers of the Kelaniya Divisional Crime Investigation Unit.
The Thai national, aged 32, was arrested while staying at a hotel in the 18th Mile Post area of Katunayake after investigations revealed that he had supplied the heroin to a local suspect.
Earlier, police had arrested a 34-year-old resident of the Kiribathgoda area after detecting 3 kilograms and 18 grams of heroin, a mobile phone and a motorcycle during the inspection of a suspicious motorcycle along Hospital Road in the Kiribathgoda police division.
Both suspects have been produced before the Kiribathgoda Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing. (Newswire)
