
The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) on Thursday appointed 19 female bus conductors, marking the first time women have been recruited for the role by the state-run transport service.
Letters of appointment were issued at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Mass Media Kaushalya Ariyarathne, Member of Parliament Samanmalee Gunasinghe and SLTB Chairman Sajeewa Kanakarathna.
The SLTB also introduced a new uniform for the newly appointed female conductors. (Newswire)
