
Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe, stated that a life insurance cover of Rs. 300,000 will be provided to consumers who make purchases exceeding Rs. 10,000 per month through cooperative stores.
The Minister also said that steps will be taken to provide life insurance coverage for cooperative employees and, in addition, to ensure they receive a satisfactory salary.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media following the release of the results of the Regional Twenty-Five elections, held yesterday (07), to elect representatives to the General Assembly of the Anuradhapura Various Services Cooperative Society.
Meanwhile, the Minister added that steps will be taken to implement the law regarding fraud and corruption that have occurred within the cooperative sector so far. (NewsWire)
