Sri Lankan actress Peshani Ekanayake has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) regarding a fake post circulated on social media targeting her.
In a video message outside the CID today, Peshani said that the fake post had been created by an individual, fraudulently using the logo of a local news website.
“This is fake news. An individual has created a fake post using the logo of a news website. I do not know his intention behind this. The website has denied any involvement in the matter. I have submitted all evidence to the CID with those who shared the post on social media as well,” she said.
Peshani further expressed hope that legal action will be initiated against those who had shared and commented on the fake post on social media. (Newswire)
