
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday during an official visit.
Silva is currently in India on an invitation extended by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
During the meeting, Silva and Vijayan, along with several Kerala state ministers, discussed a range of issues including public welfare programmes implemented in Kerala, efforts undertaken to achieve 100 percent literacy, and measures introduced to eliminate extreme poverty in the state.
Silva also held discussions with M. A. Baby, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and members of its central committee.
The discussions further focused on strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and Kerala, exploring opportunities for mutual development across various sectors, and enhancing ties between the two parties.
Several Sri Lankan representatives were also present at the meeting, including Members of Parliament Kithnan Selvaraj and Karunathilan Ilankumaran, Inter Company Employees’ Union General Secretary Attorney-at-Law Janaka Adhikari, JVP International Committee member Attorney-at-Law Kalpana Madhubhashini, and JVP Media Unit member Hemathilaka Gamage.
