The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Sabragamuwa, and Southern Provinces today.
Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the said provinces, while there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
Red alerts have been issued to 08 districts, and amber alerts to 07 districts, during this period.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning. (Newswire)
