
Former minister and veteran leftist politician Prof. Tissa Vitharana has died at the age of 92, family sources said.
Prof. Vitharana, a senior figure in Sri Lanka’s leftist political movement, served in several key ministerial portfolios and was widely known for his role in constitutional reform efforts and national reconciliation initiatives.
A long-time leader of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), he was appointed as Minister of Science and Technology and later played a prominent role in efforts aimed at addressing ethnic tensions through political dialogue. (Newswire)
