The Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology has issued a special weather bulletin warning that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal around February 15.
The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre, issuing the notice at 10.30 a.m. today, requested the public to remain attentive to future forecasts and bulletins in this regard.
The advisory comes as Sri Lanka is set to host two high-profile ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches on February 15 and 16.
The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash is scheduled to be played in Colombo on February 15, while Sri Lanka will take on Australia in Kandy on February 16.
With large crowds expected for both fixtures, weather developments in the region are likely to be closely monitored by organisers, teams and spectators.
The Department of Meteorology has advised the public to stay updated with official forecasts. (Newswire)
