Akuregoda Double Murder: Did Your Dash Cam Capture EP KI-7738?

Police have sought public assistance to identify two suspects involved in a shooting that killed a couple inside a vehicle in Akuregoda, Talangama on Friday evening.

According to the Police Media Division, the shooting took place on Feb. 13 at a supermarket car park in the Akuregoda area within the Talangama Police Division. Two unidentified individuals who arrived in a car allegedly opened fire at the couple seated inside a motor vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Acting on instructions of the Inspector General of Police, 10 special police teams have been deployed to conduct investigations into the incident.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects had travelled through Rohamagama, Pothuarawa Road, the Athurugiriya Police Division, Kottawa and Makumbura following the shooting.

Police believe the suspects were travelling in a car bearing registration number EP KI-7738. Authorities have requested vehicle owners and drivers who were travelling along the above routes on the evening of Feb. 13 to check their dash camera footage for any recordings of the suspect vehicle.
