Police have uncovered a series of thefts following the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect in possession of ‘Ice’ narcotics in Bambalapitiya.
The suspect, a resident of Battaramulla, was arrested on 8 February by officers attached to the Bambalapitiya Police Station. He was subsequently produced before court and detained under a detention order for further investigations.
During subsequent inquiries, police revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in eight motorcycle thefts across several police divisions, including Bambalapitiya, Narahenpita, Peliyagoda, Dematagoda, Thalangama, Gothatuwa, Maradana, Kurunduwatta, Borella and Welikada.
Investigations also uncovered his alleged involvement in multiple property thefts, including the stealing of laptops and mobile phones.
Police have recovered several stolen motorcycles and other items, including laptops, during the investigation.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court on 14 February.
