Army Recovers Bodies of Two in Liyangahawela Quarry Tragedy

The bodies of two individuals who lost their lives in a quarry accident in Liyangahawela, Bandarawela have been recovered with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army, according to an official statement.

The incident occurred on February 14 at a quarry site in the Liyangahawela area.

Troops of the 23rd Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the 112 Infantry Brigade, carried out the recovery operation following a request from the Badulla Disaster Management Centre.

The Army said its personnel intervened to assist civil authorities in retrieving the bodies of the two victims from the site of the accident.

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by relevant authorities. (Newswire)
