An Amber advisory for heavy rain, effective from 1 p.m. today (Feb. 18) until 1 p.m. tomorrow (Feb. 19) has been issued by the Department of Meteorology’s Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre.
Accordingly, heavy rainfall over 11 millimeters is likely in the Uva Province and the districts of Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara, Matale and Nuwara Eliya.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage from heavy rain, strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers. (Newswire)
