SJB MPs staged a protest this morning (20) near the entry road to Parliament over the alleged coal procurement scam, accusing the government of remaining silent on the issue and taking no action.
Lawmakers said the issue of substandard coal is critical, as it directly affects the national power supply and has sparked widespread concern over the handling of coal imports for the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant.
SJB leaders have claimed that all five coal shipments imported for the plant failed to meet required quality standards, falling below the minimum calorific value needed for efficient power generation.
They alleged that the use of such coal has led to reduced generation capacity and could cause financial losses and damage to machinery at the plant. (NewsWire)
