
The deadline for submitting public complaints and information to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating alleged corruption and irregularities within the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has been extended until March 16, 2026.
The Commission has been appointed to examine alleged acts of corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust, misuse or abuse of power, misuse of state resources and privileges, unlawful recruitments and appointments, violations of procurement procedures, irregularities in leasing movable and immovable property, and legal proceedings or settlements conducted outside due process.
The inquiry covers the period from 2010 to 2025 and also focuses on serious losses and damage caused to state assets or revenue as a result of such actions within the CMC.
Written complaints or information may be submitted in Sinhala, Tamil or English to the Secretary of the Commission at No. 152, Galle Road, Colombo 03.
Submissions must include the name, address, contact telephone number, and National Identity Card number or passport number of the complainant.
Individuals who do not wish to disclose their identity may make a request to that effect, the President’s Media Division said.
