Ayodhya Shiva Temple Chief Priest meets Sri Lankan officials

The chief priest of the Shiva temple in Ayodhya, India, Kaishanand Giriji Maharaj, met with several officials, including Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, during his visit to Sri Lanka.

According to Minister Vijitha Herath, the visiting Kaishanand Giriji Maharaj, together with a delegation of 14 lay and clergy members, is scheduled to visit several Hindu sites in Sri Lanka.

Among the locations are the popular Shiva temples for Indian pilgrims, such as Thiruketheeswaram in Mannar, Naguleswaram in Jaffna, Koneswaram in Trincomalee, Seetha Amman temple in Nuwara Eliya, and the ancient ruins with Shiva temples in Polonnaruwa.

This delegation’s visit has been a valuable opportunity to promote Sri Lanka’s religious tourism sector, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath added. (Newswire)
