International cricket commentator and former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has praised Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka for his composure during a tense final over in a closely fought encounter.
In a post on X, Raja commended Shanaka for not reacting to what appeared to be a wide delivery from Shaheen in the final over. He said those in the commentary box had read the ball as a wide, but Shanaka chose not to protest or show visible dissent.
At the time, Shanaka was on 22 runs with 27 required off the last over for victory. Raja noted that many batters might have left the crease complaining, but Shanaka instead remained calm and carried on, allowing the game to proceed without confrontation.
Describing him as a “modern day Mandela of sportsmanship,” Raja said Shanaka’s response reflected the spirit of the game. (Newswire)
