
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that former Parliamentarian Duminda Silva has been named as a suspect in an alleged bribery incident.
According to News 1st, the case relates to the alleged acceptance of a Rs. 15 million bribe to secure bail for a suspect identified as “Dematagoda Ruwan,” who had been arrested over allegations of earning illicit funds through drug trafficking.
The Bribery Commission made the disclosure before court, naming Silva as a suspect in connection with the alleged transaction. Further legal proceedings are expected as investigations continue.
Duminda Silva is currently serving a prison sentence after being convicted and handed the death penalty over the murder of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra. (Newswire)
