The Sri Lanka Police has issued a statement regarding a video clip circulating on social media, in which a group of women accuse officers of misconduct during a house search in the Jinthupitiya area under the Foreshore Police Division.

According to the Police Media Division, the incident relates to a search operation carried out on Tuesday (03 Mar) in the Jampata Street area of Colombo North.

The operation, conducted from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm under the supervision of the Colombo North Divisional Officer, involved all station officers in the division. Its objective was to curb organized crime, suppress drug trafficking, and apprehend suspects.

Police reports indicate that several houses in the area belong to organized criminals linked to drug trafficking who are currently overseas but continue to use the locality as a base for illicit activities. The search was aimed at dismantling such networks.

The statement further noted that if any individual’s property or money has been misplaced, as alleged in the video, affected parties may lodge complaints.

However, the Police emphasised that the claims in the video are false. (Newswire)
