Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa says the Sri Lankan government must clarify whether it was aware of the mission that led to the incident involving the Iranian warship off the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
Speaking to India Today, Rajapaksa said the Sri Lanka Navy had acted in accordance with international law by carrying out a rescue mission for those affected.
However, he said it was now a question for the Government of Sri Lanka to answer whether it had prior knowledge of the operation.
Rajapaksa added that if the government had been kept in the dark about the mission, it should raise the matter with the authorities in the United States. (Newswire)
