
The government has doubled allowances paid to public officials engaged in extended disaster response operations under a new circular issued by the National Disaster Relief Services Centre.
The circular, issued under the Ministry of Defence, numbered 04/2026 and dated March 6, increases payments for officers deployed in disaster relief and emergency response activities.
The revised allowances apply to government officials assigned to disaster management duties beyond their regular responsibilities.
According to the circular, daily payments will vary depending on the officer’s service category and grade. The updated rates range from 800 rupees to 2,500 rupees.
Under specific procedures for approval, reporting and documentation, officials involved in disaster relief operations will receive the revised allowances. (NewsWire)
