Sri Lanka Reserves top $7 Billion for first time since 2020

Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets have surpassed the USD 7 billion mark for the first time since August 2020, according to the latest data from the Central Bank.

At the end of February 2026, reserves stood at USD 7,284 million, reflecting a 6.6% increase compared to USD 6,832 million in January. 

The bulk of the reserves came from foreign exchange holdings, which rose from USD 6,687 million to USD 7,057 million during the month.

The Central Bank’s gold reserves also recorded a sharp rise, climbing 83.4% from USD 109 million in January to USD 200 million in February. (Newswire)
