UAE Intercepts 9 Ballistic Missiles, 109 Drones Today

The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed nine ballistic missiles and 109 drones detected during the latest wave of Iranian attacks on Friday (6).

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said air defence systems detected nine ballistic missiles, all of which were successfully intercepted and destroyed. The ministry also reported the detection of 112 drones, of which 109 were intercepted while three drones fell within the country’s territory.

The ministry said that since the start of the Iranian attacks, a total of 205 ballistic missiles have been detected, with 190 destroyed by air defence systems, 13 falling into the sea and two landing within the UAE.

During the same period, authorities detected 1,184 Iranian drones, of which 1,110 were intercepted while 74 fell within the country’s territory.

The UAE Ministry of Defence also said eight cruise missiles had been detected and destroyed.

According to the ministry, the attacks have resulted in three fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities, while 112 people have sustained minor injuries. Those injured include individuals of Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian and Turkish nationalities.

The ministry said the UAE Armed Forces remain on high alert and at full readiness to deal with any threats and to confront attempts to undermine the country’s security, while ensuring the protection of its sovereignty and stability. (Newswire)
