
Three foreigners were rescued from drowning in two separate incidents while sea bathing near the Hikkaduwa harbour over the past two days, police said.
Police said a 39-year-old Russian national who was drowning while bathing in the sea near the Hikkaduwa harbour on the evening of March 5 was rescued by officers attached to the Hikkaduwa Police Life Saving Unit.
In a separate incident on Friday evening (March 6), two Russian nationals aged 40 and 52 were rescued after they were caught in a strong current and swept out to sea while bathing near the same area. (NewsWire)
