Sri Lanka Police on Sunday issued a public advisory clarifying the official procedures for obtaining Police Clearance Certificates (PCC) following a high number of inquiries from both local and overseas applicants.
The Police Media Division said that while the process is straightforward for law-abiding citizens, applicants with criminal records or pending legal matters will receive adverse reports following background checks.
Police said applications can be submitted through the official Sri Lanka Police website at www.police.lk by accessing the E-Services section and selecting the Clearance Certificates service.
Foreign-based applicants are required to pay a fee of Rs. 5,100 when submitting the application. Police said that once the payment is confirmed and the necessary checks are completed, the certificate is expected to be issued within approximately 14 days.
Sri Lankans living abroad can also apply through Sri Lankan embassies or consulates, which can assist in facilitating the process.
Police further said that the advisory was issued to provide clear guidance to the public on the correct procedures for obtaining Police Clearance Certificates and to address the growing number of inquiries received by the department.
