The Sri Lanka Police say a 19‑year‑old youth has been arrested in Nawagattegama after a video showing reckless motorcycle riding went viral on social media.
According to the Police, the footage depicted two youths obstructing vehicles on the Nawagattegama–Anamaduwa road by riding a motorcycle in a dangerous manner.
Following investigations, officers from the Nawagattegama Police Station apprehended the rider along with the motorcycle on Sunday (08 Mar).
The suspect, a resident of Nawagattegama, was taken into custody on charges of reckless and dangerous riding, creating risk to road users, and attempting culpable homicide.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate’s Court today (09 Mar).
