
The Fort Police states that six employees of a contracting company have been arrested for stealing copper wires worth nearly Rs. 4.2 million from the lightning conductor system installed on the upper floor of the old 16‑storey building of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in Colombo.
According to the Lankadeepa newspaper, the Police have recovered about 30 kilograms of wire from the stock of wires stolen by the suspects.
The complaint states the stolen copper wires measured 288 meters in length.
A Director of the Management Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka had lodged a complaint with the Fort Police on February 27, regarding the theft. (Newswire)
