Three commercial ships have come under attack in the Gulf, with one vessel catching fire, as tensions escalate in the region amid Iran’s campaign against neighbouring oil-exporting countries, according to AFP.
The attacks occurred near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes for oil and gas.
Reports said one of the ships was left ablaze following the attack, while the other two vessels were also hit during the incident.
The latest strikes have raised fresh concerns over the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes. (Newswire)
