Former Civil Defence Chief Accountant Held Over Rs 4.4 Mn Illicit Assets Probe

A former Chief Accountant of the Civil Defence Department has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations of acquiring assets beyond his lawful income.

The suspect was arrested this morning (11) under Section 23 (a)(1) of the Bribery Act.

Authorities allege that the suspect had accumulated assets worth Rs. 4,428,305.70 exceeding his legitimate income during the period from March 31, 2011 to August 3, 2013. (Newswire)
