Fuel prices have surged across the world following the war on Iran, with at least 85 countries reporting petrol price increases since the attacks by the United States and Israel began on February 28.

Data from Global Petrol Prices shows Vietnam recorded the sharpest increase, with petrol prices rising nearly 50 percent from $0.75 per litre to $1.13. Laos followed with a 33 percent increase, while Cambodia saw prices rise by 19 percent.

Among major economies, Australia recorded an 18 percent increase and the United States saw prices rise by about 17 percent, with some states exceeding $4 per gallon and California surpassing $5 per gallon, according to Al-Jazeera.

Several Asian countries have been among the hardest hit due to their heavy reliance on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route disrupted by the conflict.

Governments in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Pakistan and Bangladesh have already introduced emergency measures to manage fuel shortages and rising energy costs. (Newswire)
