10 ambassador-designates approved, including envoys to Israel, Iran & Palestine

Ten ambassador-designates who recently met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake have received clearance from the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts, enabling them to assume their respective diplomatic postings.

Among those cleared are two new ambassador-designates to Israel and Iran and Palestine.

The approved appointments include Mr. Dharshana M. Perera as High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia; Mr. D.M.S.P. Dassanayake as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva; and Ms. Dayani Mendis as Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to Austria.

Also cleared were Mr. S.P.W. Pathirana as Ambassador-designate to Romania; Ms. N.I.D. Paranavithana as Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to Ethiopia and the African Union; and Mr. S. K. Chandrasiri as Ambassador-designate to Israel.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dhammika Fernando was cleared as High Commissioner-designate to Kenya; Mr. Anura Withanage as Ambassador-designate to Lebanon; Prof. Ms. M.I. Fazeeha Azmi as Ambassador-designate to Iran; and Mr. M. Farook M. Fawzer as Representative-designate of Sri Lanka to Palestine. (Newswire)
