Five fishermen from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu were arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy for allegedly entering Sri Lankan waters while fishing between Dhanushkodi and Talaimannar, according to Indian media reports.
Their mechanised boat have been seized and the group has been taken to a naval camp in Mannar for questioning, while fishermen’s associations in Tamil Nadu have called on Indian authorities to secure their release. (Newswire)
