Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has issued his first public statement since assuming the role, warning that U.S. military bases in the region could face attacks if they are not closed.

In a recorded address, Khamenei called for the immediate closure of all U.S. bases across the Middle East, stating that they would otherwise be targeted by Iran.

He said Iran would continue to strike U.S. bases in the region while maintaining friendly relations with neighbouring countries.

Khamenei also announced that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed, describing the move as a measure aimed at pressuring Iran’s enemies amid the ongoing conflict.

In his address, the new Iranian leader urged national unity as tensions continue to escalate in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes, and any disruption to traffic through the narrow waterway could have significant consequences for global energy markets and regional security. (Newswire)
