Ratnapura recorded the highest temperature in the country today, Monday(16), reaching 36.8 degrees Celsius, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Several other areas also recorded temperatures above 35°C during the day. Kurunegala recorded 35.9°C, while Vavuniya reached 35.5°C and Mattala recorded 35.1°C.
Meteorological data also showed relatively high temperatures in several other parts of the country, including Anuradhapura at 34.7°C and Jaffna and Mannar at 34.5°C. (NewsWire)
